Welcome To

Brentwood

Brentwood's natural beauty is the iconic strip of coral trees in the median.

Welcome to Brentwood

An affluent residential neighborhood on the westside of Los Angeles.

Brentwood is a sophisticated neighborhood known for quaint, well-appointed homes on tree-lined streets that stretch up into the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains on Los Angeles’ westside. Many Hollywood stars and musicians live in this well-situated community.

Brentwood traces its roots to the 1880s and the establishment of the 600-acre Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Soldiers and Sailors. A small community grew outside the west gate, taking on the name Westgate. It was annexed by Los Angeles on June 14, 1916.

The median home value is $2.2 million, and the mean household income is more than $300,000.

What to Love

  • The Getty Center is a campus of the Getty Museum and other programs of the Getty Trust, known for its architecture, gardens, and views of Los Angeles.

  • The Brentwood Country Club has a great course and an exclusive list of members.

  • Sullivan Canyon Park is an 8-mile trail for hiking, biking, and dog walking through a scenic canyon with sparse forest.

People & Lifestyle

Brentwood is definitely one of the top communities in Los Angeles. In 2020, Niche.com named it one of the best neighborhoods to live in Los Angeles, one of the best neighborhoods to raise a family in Los Angeles, and one of the best neighborhoods for young professionals.

Brentwood is attractive because of its proximity to beaches, entertainment districts, shopping, natural attractions, and the freeway. While being close to the action, it’s also tucked away just enough to make it relaxed and comfortable.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Dining in Brentwood ranges from upscale Italian restaurants such as Vincenti and Toscana to any number of casual eateries that reflect the L.A. vibe.

A Votre Santé is a health-food restaurant that offers generous portions of vegetarian-friendly fare in a relaxed atmosphere. Farmshop is the place to go for a delicious brunch and the chance to see some celebrities.

The Brentwood Country Mart is a funky shopping village that has been open since 1948. Besides being a go-to place for shopping and eating, it’s become a tourist destination because many celebrities can be seen there.

Things to Do

Celebrity-watching is certainly among the top activities in Brentwood. The area’s natural beauty is also worth checking out. Among the many parks and open spaces is Westridge Canyonback Wilderness Park, with more than 1,500 acres of vast open space where visitors can go hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

Another part of Brentwood’s natural beauty is the iconic strip of coral trees in the median along San Vicente Boulevard. The trees were planted decades ago after train tracks were removed. The twisted shapes of the tree trunks and the red flowers have become part of the Brentwood landscape.

Schools

The Brentwood area is home to a number of excellent schools. Top educational opportunities include:

  • Brentwood School, grades K-12, Highly regarded for academics, arts, and athletics
